Some names carry weight. This one carries a live wire.
Nervous Gender Reloaded is a Los Angeles synthpunk and noise outfit that exists on the wrong side of polite — confrontational electronics, raw energy, and a refusal to sand down the edges. The music pulls from no-wave, industrial, and post-punk without genuflecting to any of them. Woven through it are stranger threads: avant-garde classical, world music, Gregorian chant. Sources that have no business being in the same room, alchemized into something that sounds like none of them and all of them at once.
The band shares lineage with Nervous Gender, the boundary-wrecking L.A. group that tore through the early 1980s underground. That history isn’t the pitch — it’s the bedrock. What’s being built on top of it is new, ongoing, and loud.
Nervous Gender Reloaded plays for the people who still believe a song can feel like a threat.
Nervous Gender Reloaded was founded by Edward Stapleton and Matt Comeione. The current lineup is completed by the addition of Ian Bain on drums.
